Discounts
There are five discounts available for Personal Disability Income Insurance through Berkshire. In all cases, you must qualify for coverage through medical & financial underwriting:
- 10% - Association *
- 10% - Employer Sponsored **
- 15% - Non-Smoker/Non-Tobacco
- 5% - Multi-Policy (1yr discount)
Association Discount *
- A permanent 10% discount on the base Premium for a Personal Disability Policy is available to those in Associations that have endorsed the Berkshire Disability Product.
- At the bequest of the Associations, a list of qualifying Associations cannot be provided. Include all Associations of which you are a member in your Quote Request and, if eligible, we will include the discount. No National Associations are included – most are State or County Associations.
Employer Sponsored Discount ** (simple to set up!)
- A permanent 10% discount applies to the base Premium for each Personal Disability Policy issued to 2 or more employees of an Employer-sponsored plan.
- Requirements: You will need a letter from the business endorsing Berkshire as the disability insurance product of choice for your business. As soon as at least two people in the business (you and another) purchase policies, there is a 10% discount on every employee’s personal policy. For guidance on setting up the plan, ask for information when you Request your Quote.
Non-Tobacco Discount
- A permanent 15% discount on the Standard Premium for a Personal Disability Policy is available to those who have not used Tobacco in any form the past 12 months.
Multi-Policy Discount
- A 5% Discount is available on the First Year’s premium of the highest premium Disability Policy you purchase if you also currently own or purchase an additional policy with Berkshire or Guardian (Life, Disability, Long Term Care, etc).
- This is an added benefit when you are also purchasing a Life Insurance, Long Term Care, Disability Buy-Out, or Overhead Expense Policy. You may indicate your desire for additional policies when you Request your Quote.
Some discounts also apply to other types of Disability policies, but vary in amount depending on policy type (eg. Overhead Expense, Disability Buy-Out, etc)
* Previously approved Associations only. Not Available in CA, NY, NJ. Not available for policies already containing Batch Billed or Employer Sponsored discounts.
** Disability Insurance Policies can be list-billed directly to the business, or can be individually billed to the policy holders.
